Bruce Arena expressed disappointment with the San Jose Earthquakes' performance following a disappointing 5-3 defeat to Sporting Kansas City, highlighting defensive errors that led to conceding three goals early in the match. Despite a brief recovery in the first half, the Earthquakes were unable to sustain momentum, ultimately failing to control the game. Arena noted that the team has much to improve and emphasized that such a poor performance merits no excuses. As San Jose prepares for an upcoming match against Columbus Crew, Arena remains focused on the long season ahead.
"If you concede five goals and three goals, I don't know, inside the first 30 minutes, you don't deserve to win," Arena said.
"At half-time, I felt we were in a position to win the game. But we continued to make some errors that were costly in the second half."
