Samuel Vengrinovich, a 44-year-old man from the Bay Area, went missing during a two-day hiking trip in the Himalayas near Dharamshala. He intended to hike Mount Triund but failed to return to his camp on June 9. Family members expressed concern over the harsh conditions and Vengrinovich's inadequate gear. His tent, food, and phone were left at the campsite. His family is raising $40,000 to send a search team and $20,000 for helicopter assistance, urging locals not to search due to the dangerous terrain.
His tent and a majority of his clothes and his phone are still at the campsite. He went hiking with a backpack, with, from our understanding, a day of food.
The terrain is extremely dangerous, and the situation is too volatile for untrained individuals to be on the ground.
