Goodwill of Silicon Valley opening its first outlet store in San Jose
Briefly

Goodwill of Silicon Valley is opening a new Outlet store in San Jose on May 2, providing shoppers with lower prices on donated goods, while promoting environmental sustainability by reducing waste. The outlet features items sold by weight from bins and lower-priced furniture, helping offload unsold goods from regular stores. CEO Christopher Baker noted the financial health of the organization enabling new expansions, positioning Goodwill to enhance its job-training programs with additional funds generated from the outlet operations, thus benefiting both the community and environment.
"It's a double benefit," said Baker, who has been with Goodwill of Silicon Valley for 15 years and took over the top spot last August.
"Not to mention, it's also keeping more stuff out of landfills. It's a triple benefit when you consider the extra revenue Goodwill can pump back into its job-training programs."
