JBJ Soul Kitchen, established by Jon Bon Jovi in New Jersey, operates under a unique Pay It Forward model, allowing guests to enjoy meals regardless of their financial situation. Opened in 2011, the restaurant serves as a vital community resource, emphasizing dignity in dining. Recently, it celebrated serving its 200,000th meal, reinforcing its impact on combatting hunger. The JBJ Soul Foundation, founded in 2006, supports this mission by addressing issues of hunger, poverty, and homelessness, while promoting partnerships and community benefits.
When we first opened, people did not understand our unique Pay It Forward model. We are not a soup kitchen. We are not a pay-what-you-want restaurant. We are a unique Pay It Forward model where those who are unable to pay, volunteer their time. Those who can pay, pay for their meal and donate to pay it forward.
JBJ has the mission to break the cycle of hunger, poverty, and homelessness through developing partnerships, creating programs, and providing grant funding to support innovative community benefit organizations.
