From a 17-year-old history maker to a three-time Olympian - meet Team Ireland for next month's Winter Olympics
"I'm just gonna go out there and ski as fast as I can and have a lot of fun. Success for me is knowing I skied my fastest."
"I've been skiing since I could walk. I actually started skiing in Minnesota. Both of my parents were ski racers in college, and they met through skiing. They were coaches and when I turned six, I started racing. Then right before COVID, my family, including my brother, we moved out to Colorado because it was getting a bit more serious than what Minnesota could offer."
"In my school, it's actually kind of normal to become an Olympian. I'm one of three from my school this year across multiple different nations. Most of my teachers are pretty accommodating with my busy schedule."
Anabelle Zurbay turned 17 last December and is the youngest member of the Irish team, qualifying through her maternal grandmother from Rosemount near Moate. She will compete in slalom and giant slalom, with giant slalom her preferred discipline. Zurbay began skiing in Minnesota, started racing at six, and moved with her family to Colorado before COVID for more serious training. She still attends school in Colorado and is one of three students from her school who are Olympians this year. Ben Lynch, born in Dublin and raised in Vancouver from age three, will make his Olympic debut in freestyle halfpipe and will be based in Livigno.
