"We know that not all skiers and riders at Killington started their journey at The Beast. That's why we're committed to supporting smaller local resorts through our new Community Mountain Support Fund—because having more opportunities to get on the hill is a win for everyone."
"These smaller ski areas often serve as entry points to the sport for new skiers and riders, making them an important part of the broader ski ecosystem. Small community ski areas play a vital role by providing affordable access to skiing and riding, entry points for beginners and youth programs, local winter recreation opportunities, and training grounds for future skiers and riders."
Killington Resort launched the Community Mountain Support Fund, a $200,000 initiative designed to support small community ski areas across the Northeast with critical infrastructure improvements. The fund addresses essential operational needs including lift maintenance and repairs, guest experience improvements, snowmaking infrastructure, grooming equipment, and mountain operations upgrades. Small ski areas serve as crucial entry points for new skiers and riders, providing affordable access and youth programs while training future participants. Killington recognizes that many skiers begin their journey at smaller mountains before advancing to larger resorts. The fund is administered through the Killington World Cup Foundation, with primary funding from gondola cabin auction proceeds and additional contributions from the Foundation itself.
