Nakiska, AB, Announces New Plans for Summer Operations Starting in 2027 - SnowBrains
"The new mountain bike terrain will feature 19 miles of trails serviced by the Silver Chair, which has a vertical drop of 1,404 feet. The trails will be designed by former pro mountain biker and now master trail designer Matt Hadley."
"The mountain coaster, designed by Sunkid's top European ride designer, will stretch 3,182 feet and operate during both the winter and summer months, utilizing the winter tubing area."
"This summer operations plan has been made possible thanks to the All-Season Resort Act, enacted in December 2025 to help boost tourism in the province."
Nakiska Ski Area will begin summer operations in 2027, offering lift-served mountain biking, hiking, and a mountain coaster. The biking trails will span 19 miles and be designed by Matt Hadley, utilizing IMBA and Whistler Trail Standards. The mountain coaster will be 3,182 feet long and operate year-round. Additionally, 2 miles of lift-served hiking trails will be available. This initiative is supported by the All-Season Resort Act, aimed at enhancing tourism in Alberta and allowing Nakiska to compete with British Columbia's all-season resorts.
