Sierra-at-Tahoe, CA, Announces Closure for 79th Season Amid High Spring Temperatures - SnowBrains
"We are currently seeing near record temperatures and the snow is melting fast. Our team is doing an excellent job keeping everything alive but sometimes Mother Nature just wins. - Brian Hickman, Director of Operations at Sierra-at-Tahoe"
Sierra-at-Tahoe is concluding its 79th operating season on March 22 due to unseasonable weather conditions. Near-record high temperatures and rapid snowmelt, combined with no new snow in the forecast, prompted management to end operations. The resort will operate select lifts during the final weekend, including Grandview Express, Nob Hill, and Easy Rider Express, with beginner terrain limited to Easy Rider. Conditions may change operations, so visitors should check the daily snow report. The resort is hosting closing weekend festivities featuring snow beach volleyball and DJ après sessions to celebrate the season and thank guests.
