Celtic turn down Forest's 17m bid for Engels
"Honestly, I am telling you, I didn't know anything about it,"
"If they have, then they must have done it during the game. And I would want it rebuffed, unless it was 100m."
"Then I think the board would step in there. No, absolutely, I would rather keep him."
Celtic turned down a roughly £17m bid from Nottingham Forest for 22-year-old Belgian midfielder Arne Engels after an earlier £14m offer was also rejected. Engels joined Celtic from Augsburg for £11m in August 2024 and has made 89 appearances in all competitions for the Glasgow club. He contributed to Celtic winning the Scottish Premiership and League Cup last season. Interim manager Martin O'Neill said he was unaware of the offer and would want any bid rebuffed unless it was around £100m, adding he would rather keep Engels. Celtic and Forest both face Europa League play-offs this month.
