Leicester City dismissed manager Marti Cifuentes following a meeting with owner Khun Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha after a 2-1 home defeat to Oxford United left the club 14th in the Championship. The owner watched the match in person for the first time in months and acknowledged that automatic promotion was no longer feasible. He said the team needed support and improvement quickly, and that football is a results business despite suggesting Cifuentes needed time. Sections of supporters had demanded the sacking amid inconsistent performances and only two instances of back-to-back league wins under Cifuentes.
