ICYMI: Borussia Monchengladbach sacks manager
"After reviewing the start to our season intensely, it has become clear to us that a change at the head coach position is necessary."
"After ten Bundesliga games without a win, we no longer had faith in the possibility of a turnaround with Gerardo at the helm."
"Gerardo took over when the club was in a difficult position, and identified fully with our chosen path. He pushed the team's development and brought stability. With that being said, the end of last season did not go the way we imagined it would, and the same can definitely be said for the start of this season. The decision to bring in different ideas now is the right one. We thank Gerardo for everything he has achieved with us and wish him all the best both personally and for the next step in his career."
Borussia have relieved Gerardo Seoane of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. U23s head coach Eugen Polanski will take over on an interim basis. Seoane's tenure began at the start of the 2023/24 season. Roland Virkus stated that an intense review of the season showed a change at head coach was necessary and that ten Bundesliga games without a win eliminated faith in a turnaround under Seoane. President Rainer Bonhof acknowledged Seoane's contributions to development and stability but said poor results at season end and the current start justified bringing in different ideas and wishing Seoane well.
