Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai: Contract extension 'not in my hands'

Dominik Szoboszlai's current Liverpool contract runs until 2028 and he expressed a desire to remain at the club while stressing that renewal decisions are not his to make. Liverpool opened talks earlier in the season and regard him as a potential future captain, keen to reward his form. Szoboszlai joined from RB Leipzig in 2023 and has registered eight goals and seven assists in all competitions this season. He filled in at right-back due to injuries but said he is a midfielder and not a medium- or long-term defensive solution. He praised the city, club, teammates and Anfield fans.
