Matt Beard has died aged 47, passing away on Saturday at 7.28pm, according to a message from his wife, Deb. He guided Liverpool to consecutive Women's Super League titles in 2013 and 2014 and later led the club back to the top flight, making him the most successful manager in Liverpool Women's history. Liverpool described him as a committed and successful manager of integrity and warmth, and expressed condolences to his family. The WSL said he played an instrumental role in the growth of women's football. Beard most recently managed Burnley and had managerial spells at West Ham, Bristol City and Chelsea.
