Max Eberl says Bayern Munich loanee Daniel Peretz has to fight for time at Hamburger SV
"There may have been promises made beforehand that weren't kept. I can't and don't want to judge to what extent the promise to Daniel was that he would become the number 1 at HSV. They told me very clearly that they could very well imagine that happening at HSV. That's why we agreed to it. But the situation is like this now, that's competitive sports."
"He has to fight it now. I have to be fair and say that Daniel Heuer Fernandes did very well in the first two Bundesliga games. But Daniel Peretz is an outstanding goalkeeper, and I know his character: He will fight for it. This is a development that Daniel must take - to establish himself and seize his chance when he gets it. Our intention is, of course, for him to play as many games as possible."
Max Eberl says Bayern loaned Daniel Peretz to Hamburger SV so he could play, but HSV retains the decision over his playing time. Eberl notes that Daniel Heuer Fernandes was promoted with the club and may have an advantage, and that prior promises about Peretz becoming number one may not have been kept. Eberl calls Peretz an outstanding goalkeeper with the character to fight for the position and says Peretz must seize chances when they arise. Bayern routed Hamburger SV 5-0, dominating from the start, and Peretz faces competition across a long season.
