Northern Ireland prepare to face Iceland in a Nations League promotion/relegation play-off on 24 October at Ballymena Showgrounds. Northern Ireland aim to reach League A for the first time since the competition's 2023 format change. Iceland qualified for Euro 2025 and are ranked 27 places higher. Nadene Caldwell said the squad has worked on coping with difficult situations and is prepared to face a strong opponent. Several experienced players are unavailable, and Caldwell, primarily a midfielder, may fill in at centre-back. Simone Magill is around the squad at training and her presence is expected to support younger players.
