PFA open talks with Chelsea over treatment of Raheem Sterling & Axel Disasi
"The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) have opened discussions with Chelsea regarding the treatment of Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi, who have both been frozen out of the first-team picture. At present, the pair are training separately from the senior squad after head coach Enzo Maresca made it clear they are not part of his immediate plans. The players' union has stepped in to review the situation involving Sterling, 30, and France international Disasi, 27."
"Sterling, whose deal runs for just under two more years and is worth around £325,000 per week, and Disasi, contracted until 2029, were both linked with departures over the summer following spells away from Stamford Bridge last season. Despite that expectation, neither move materialised. With the transfer window now closed, the likelihood of either featuring for Chelsea before January is slim."
The PFA has opened talks with Chelsea over the treatment of Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi after both were frozen out of the first-team. Both players are training separately from the senior squad after head coach Enzo Maresca excluded them from his immediate plans. Sterling is 30 with a contract running for just under two more years and earning around £325,000 per week; Disasi is 27 and contracted until 2029. Both were linked with summer departures but moves did not happen and the closed transfer window makes appearances before January unlikely. The PFA seeks assurances that both players can continue high-standard training and has reminded clubs of FIFA rules against abusive isolation that could justify contract termination for just cause.
