Report: Bayern Munich close in on signing of highly rated US youth international Nimfasa Berchimas
"In recent years, Bayern Munich have honed in on the United States as an untapped market potentially filled with gold. First the club established a partnership with FC Dallas to send youngsters to train in Munich so the club could look at them closely, which brought Bayern the likes of Chris Richards, before that partnership was dissolved and Bayern established a partnership with Los Angeles FC, which also included sending youngsters to train in Munich."
"Bayern Munich is in advanced talks to sign highly rated 17-year-old U.S. youth international winger Nimfasha Berchimas from Charlotte FC, sources briefed on the situation tell The Athletic. A deal is has not yet been reached, but negotiations are close. The clubs don't need to worry about Monday's transfer window deadline in Germany, as the current framework is over a pre-agreed deal for the summer."
Bayern Munich has targeted the United States for talent, forming partnerships with FC Dallas and Los Angeles FC and regularly inviting American youngsters to train in Munich. Nimfasha Berchimas trained with Bayern from age 14 and repeatedly impressed scouts but could not be transferred earlier due to EU rules barring moves from the USA before a player's 18th birthday. Berchimas nears his 18th birthday in February 2026 and Bayern are in advanced talks for a pre-agreed summer move from Charlotte FC. He scored four goals across eight U-17 World Cup appearances and has progressed into the U-20 setup, with 45 second-team and three first-team appearances for Charlotte.
