Rodman's goal, sideline dance with Hayes cap off USWNT rout
""She said, you are doing it tonight,""
""I thought, you know what? The game's comfortable. Trin's not going to score tonight. It's a crowded box, and the minute she chopped inside, if you'd have seen, if you had panned towards me prior to that, my head was in my hands. I was dying. I was dying. But listen, these players keep me young. I'm not complaining,""
""I'm proud of them, I am. I always say this, I'm not watching the opponent. I'm watching us. I'm watching each and every one of them execute the roles we're asking them to fulfill,""
""I said to them before the game, some of you will compete for 2027, some '28, some '31 but these are the valuable experiences I hope that we can add to your player development pathways.""
Trinity Rodman scored after entering in the 64th minute as the United States routed Chile 5-0 at Harder Stadium, marking her second straight match with a goal. Croix Bethune, Jameese Joseph and Emily Sams recorded first international goals, and Emma Sears also scored. The victory extended the USWNT winning streak to six matches. Head coach Emma Hayes celebrated on-field with Rodman after encouraging her to join the celebration. Hayes started an experimental XI averaging 5.2 caps, the fewest since 2001, citing these appearances as valuable experiences for player development ahead of future tournament cycles.
