Since late May, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been detaining people as they exit immigration courts, often after a judge has dismissed their cases.
The program is organized by the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego, Our Lady of Guadalupe church, and the San Diego Organizing Project, with the involvement of other faith communities.
The initiative continues the work of human rights advocates who have volunteered to accompany immigrants and asylum seekers in courtroom hallways during recent weeks.
