"The facts are stark: Black young people aged 16-24 face unemployment rates of 27 per cent, compared to 10 per cent for their white peers across the UK, according to the Office for National Statistics. In London, it's worse 33 per cent more than double the white youth unemployment rate, according to the most recent data available. One week into the launch of our joint campaign with The King's Trust Destination Unknown aimed at helping unemployed young Londoners into work or entrepreneurship, we focus on the additional hurdles facing young Black people who are consistently less likely to be employed than other groups, even those with similar socio-economic backgrounds."
"Destination Unknown in a nutshell With one in six young Londoners unemployed, the Standard has joined forces with The King's Trust to support unemployed young people into work or business. So far, 700,000 has been raised, with 450,000 going to King's Trust programmes in London and 250,000 to four grassroots youth charities across the capital. We are calling on corporations, foundations, philanthropists and our readers to donate. All funds raised will go to King's Trust programmes in London"
"But first, there is good news to report: a 200,000 donation has brought our appeal total to more than 700,000, thanks also to 500,000 from the Standard's Dispossessed Fund, which we announced last week.
