Elina Svitolina reported receiving hateful online abuse following her loss to Naomi Osaka at the National Bank Open. The abusive messages included racial slurs targeting her husband, Gael Monfils, and calls for violence against Ukrainians. Svitolina highlighted the shameful nature of such comments towards mothers. Earlier this year, Katie Boulter also faced death threats. A report from the WTA and ITF revealed that over 458 players experienced more than 8,000 abusive comments, with 40% attributed to angry gamblers.
