Legendary OpenPrinting architect looking for new role
Briefly

Till Kamppeter, a key figure in the OpenPrinting project and lead developer for Linux, has been laid off by Canonical after 19 years of service. The OpenPrinting project simplifies printer connections and setup, integrating older CUPS systems with newer IPP Everywhere technology. Originally hired in 2006, Kamppeter transitioned the Linux Mandrake printing system to CUPS, making it the first Linux distribution to implement it. The OpenPrinting initiative continues to receive backing from the Linux Foundation, evolving from the original CUPS to support both legacy and modern printers.
My very first task was switching from LPD (Line Printer Daemon, line printers are kind of high-speed electric typewriters) to #CUPS and so Mandrake was the first distro with CUPS and easy printing.
OpenPrinting is the modern successor to CUPS, which was acquired by Apple some years ago. It still includes a modern version of CUPS, forked in 2020, as The Register reported at the time, which is now up to release 2.4.12.
