"Deadline reports that Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip, Bad Boys: Ride or Die) will voice Kiesha Phillips, while Arturo Castro (Tron: Ares, Narcos) will voice fan-favorite Pablo Sanchez. However, the Backyard Baseball animated short will seemingly focus on Stephane "Bubbles" Morgan, per the logline below. Longtime SNL actress Ego Nwodim will portray "Bubbles" and was most recently heard as Twiggy in Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie."
"Other cast members for the Sticky Situation special include Chris Mintz-Plasse (Superbad, Kick-Ass), Donald Faison (Clueless, Scrubs), Ashleigh Crystal Hairston (Craig of the Creek), and Adam Pally (Sonic the Hedgehog movies). Last year, Playground helped put out a remaster of Backyard Baseball '97. That's not the only Backyard Sports revival, either. Since then, Backyard Football '99, Backyard Baseball '01, and Backyard Soccer '98 have seen re-releases across PC and mobile devices. Looking ahead, Backyard Basketball '01 and Backyard Hockey '02 are planned for future remasters."
Playground Productions and Lighthouse Studios are producing a 2D animated special titled Sticky Situation based on Backyard Baseball. The special centers on Stephanie "Bubbles" Morgan losing her lucky bubble gum thirty minutes before Opening Day, prompting the Backyard team to search to save their season. Ego Nwodim voices "Bubbles", Tiffany Haddish voices Kiesha Phillips, and Arturo Castro voices Pablo Sanchez, with additional roles by Chris Mintz-Plasse, Donald Faison, Ashleigh Crystal Hairston, and Adam Pally. Playground previously helped remaster Backyard Baseball '97 and has overseen re-releases of several Backyard Sports titles on PC and mobile. The special will premiere on the Backyard Sports YouTube channel and at Dave & Buster's in the US; no release date is set.
