A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms adapts George R. R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, following hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg. The story focuses on tournaments and acts of chivalry and is set ninety years after House of the Dragon and almost a century before Game of Thrones. Showrunner Ira Parker is considering cameos that link the spinoff to Game of Thrones. Parker highlighted a potential scene in which Dunk saves an infant Walder Frey from a runaway horse cart. That scene would establish an unexpected, indirect tie to the original series.
