"Borucki is in his second stint with the Toronto Blue Jays. Originally drafted in the 15th round of the 2012 MLB draft, Borucki was a member of the Blue Jays organization until June of 2022 when he was traded to the Seattle Mariners. Over the next few seasons he bounced around to several teams, before he returned to the Blue Jays last month."
"Borucki only managed to get into four games with Toronto, throwing 4.1 innings, but he didn't allow a single run on three hits, with five strikeouts and four walks. Despite the impressive numbers, Borucki was squeezed out by the numbers game. He was designated for assignment on September 15, in order to make room for Trey Yesavage on the 40-man roster, ahead of the highly touted prospects' big league debut on Monday."
"Borucki won't have a lot of time to settle in with the Bisons, as their season is coming to an end this weekend, when they wrap up their series at home against the Scranton-Wilkes Barre RailRiders on Sunday. It could be a move that means nothing in the long-term, but the way the Blue Jays have had injuries flare up over the last few weeks,"
Ryan Borucki cleared outright waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Buffalo, preserving a left-handed bullpen depth option for the Blue Jays. Borucki returned to Toronto after being drafted in 2012 and traded away in June 2022, with stops at several teams before rejoining last month. The Blue Jays signed him on August 25 after his release by Pittsburgh to address bullpen inconsistency. He threw 4.1 scoreless innings across four games, recording five strikeouts and four walks. He was designated for assignment on September 15 to make room for Trey Yesavage, then cleared waivers and was outrighted. Stashing him in Triple-A could pay off if injuries create a need for a lefty out of the bullpen.
