New Nonstop Flights Will Connect New York and Rio de Janeiro This Summer-What to Know

GOL Linhas Aéreas will begin direct service between Rio de Janeiro's GIGalão-Tom Jobim International Airport and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport starting July 8, 2026. The airline will operate three flights per week on an Airbus A330, with departures from New York at 11 p.m. and arrivals in Rio the following day, while return flights depart Rio at 9:55 p.m. and arrive in New York before 7 a.m. One-way fares start at $479. This expansion supports GOL's international growth strategy and complements existing service to Miami and Orlando. Rio de Janeiro experienced record tourism with 12.5 million visitors last year, including 2.1 million international travelers representing a 44.8 percent increase.
