Carla Klein's trip to Argentina and Antarctica included exciting experiences like visiting Iguazu Falls and cruising the Antarctic Peninsula. She highlights the diverse wildlife, including icebergs, penguins, and whales, as major attractions. The cruise featured a memorable Polar Plunge and a visit to Port Lockroy, a former British base turned museum. Klein provides useful travel tips, suggesting that travelers book early for cruises and reassuring them that temperatures are manageable with the right clothing provided by the cruise operators. Overall, she describes her journey as a remarkable experience.
For Carla Klein, a close-up view of icebergs, penguins, seals and whales were among the highlights of a trip to Argentina and Antarctica earlier this year.
One special feature of our itinerary was that we crossed the polar circle, Klein said. Our cruise included the Polar Plunge, an opportunity to dive into the Antarctic waters.
I passed on it, but a majority of people on the cruise did it. Klein particularly enjoyed a visit to Port Lockroy, the first base established by the British in 1944.
The temperature was 32 degrees most days, probably not as cold as you think, Klein said. Most cruises supply a heavy parka and waterproof boots.
