Alexandra Palace unveils UK's highest roof climb
"When it opens in February, the hour-long journey leads climbers to the famous Angel of Plenty statue, standing 130 metres above the City of London, before opening out to a 360-degree view of the capital. Thanks to Ally Pally's already elevated position overlooking London when you're standing on the ground floor, the view from the roof should be quite spectacular. For safety, climbers are fitted with a harness with a wire that keeps them attached to the walkway. The organisers say they are planning three options for visitors - general daytime climbs, timed sunset climbs, and after-dark climbs."
"Prices average around £33, depending on what time of day you visit. There are, however, a few catches. Visitors are only allowed to take their phone onto the roof if they purchase an "optional" secure phone pouch, which costs an extra £7.50 - pushing the real-world price closer to £40. Larger cameras are not permitted, and it seems a bit cheeky that returning visitors won't be able to reuse a pouch they bought on a previous climb."
Alexandra Palace will open a rooftop walk called Summit, offering the UK's highest roof walk at 130 metres above sea level. The hour-long route reaches the Angel of Plenty statue and opens onto a 360-degree view of London. Climbers use a harness attached to a safety wire. Three climb options will be offered: daytime, timed sunset, and after-dark. Ticket prices average around £33, with an optional secure phone pouch costing £7.50 and larger cameras prohibited. The climb opens to the public on 14 February 2026, and tickets are available now.
