After successfully appealing the fine, Green expressed her outrage at the treatment of unpaid carers, labeling it as harassment. Following the tribunal's ruling, the DWP canceled the overpayment and promised to offer compensation advice, amid broader concerns over its pursuit of unpaid carers, uncovering systemic issues affecting many.
I can't believe what they're putting people through, she said. [I'm] just a law-abiding person, who has never broken the law in my life. I've always tried to do things by the book.
Ms Green's overpayment has been cancelled. We are committed to supporting carers across the UK.
