Cameron Menzies, the 26th seed, lost 3-2 in the first round to Charlie Manby and lashed out by punching the players' table. He sustained a nasty cut on his right hand and appeared to have a verbal spat with the referee after being urged to leave the stage. The Alexandra Palace crowd booed loudly and Menzies raised his hand in apology. Menzies had led 1-0 and 2-1 before Manby sealed victory with his seventh match dart. Sky Sports commentators described the reaction as regrettable and extraordinary and suggested Menzies may regret his actions.
