Engineering work will close London King's Cross to trains from Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 November 2025, causing major disruption across London and the southeast. Multiple operators including LNER, Great Northern, Thameslink, Grand Central, Hull Trains and Lumo will be affected. The works form part of the £1.2 billion East Coast Digital Programme and broader upgrades to introduce digital signalling, increase capacity, and improve safety and resilience. No Grand Central services will run over the weekend. Several services are suspended and revised timetables will operate on specified routes, with replacement buses covering many links such as Hitchin–Royston and Bedford–Peterborough.
