Sixty-nine percent of side hustlers use extra work to pay bills, and 78% say their hustle is completely different from their day job. Almost half (48%) do not consider themselves small business owners, while four million businesses nationwide could qualify for small business phone contracts. Side hustles are most common among Gen Z (57% turning passions into profit) versus 14% of 60–80-year-olds. Main benefits reported include extra income (57%), flexibility (31%) and working alone (27%).
