Martin Jennings, who previously sculpted King Charles III and the Queen Mother, was chosen to create a statue of Queen Elizabeth II for a national memorial in St James's Park. The statue aims to convey grandeur, dignity and an element of stillness. The final memorial design will be revealed in 2026 and will include a glass-balustrade bridge inspired by the late queen's wedding tiara, a statue of the queen and Prince Philip, a Prince Philip Gate, and new gardens. A section of St James's Park will be re-landscaped with a budget reported between £23m and £46m. The campaign group Republic urged the Royal Family to fund the memorial.
