Emem Udaw, 51, touched the girls in intimate areas, made one of them touch him intimately and kissed another between 2002 and 2005 while he worked at Holland Park School in Kensington, west London."
""All of it left me feeling lost and desperate for someone to look out for me," she said. "That is why I turned to a mentor at school. I needed guidance and to feel safe. I really looked up to Emem. He was a father figure to me, someone who could protect me. "I trusted him completely because I had known him since primary school. "When he started to touch me I felt confused, embarrassed, ashamed, betrayed and disgusted. "Emem took advantage of me when I was at"
""Your actions were predatory, directed against girls who had been referred or come directly to you because they were having problems in their lives and/or in the school where you were working as a learning mentor. "In each case it was a flagrant, gross breach of trust.""
Emem Udaw, 51, a former learning mentor at Holland Park School, was convicted of 14 counts of indecent assault on a girl under 16, covering 47 incidents between 2002 and 2005 involving five vulnerable teenage girls. One victim was 13 at the time. The court found that Udaw exploited pupils who sought him out for support, betraying their trust. The judge described the actions as predatory. Udaw received eight years' imprisonment, was placed on the sex offenders register for life, and was subject to a 20-year sexual harm prevention order. Victims reported lasting feelings of shame and betrayal.
