Sex offender who punched and bit Met PCs jailed
"A convicted sex offender who was at the centre of a national manhunt after being mistakenly freed from prison has been sentenced to 26 weeks in jail for punching and biting two police officers. At the time Kaddour-Cherif was set free, he was facing three live criminal cases and was under investigation for a fourth offence, while a judge had specifically ordered he should be held in custody."
"Prosecutor Kevin Kendridge said Glynn saw Kaddour-Cherif leave the train but stand next to the doors on the platform, suggesting he was planning to get back on again. "He shouted the word 'thief' to attract attention, hoping the defendant would go away," Kendridge said. "[Kaddour-Cherif] punched him to the left side of his head with a closed fist, and the off-duty officer punched the defendant back.""
""Together they tried to take control of the defendant, but he managed to punch PC Glynn again and also bite him," the prosecutor said. "He slammed PC Norton against a wall and dug his face into PC Norton's arm, at which point the officer shouted 'don't bite me'." The court was shown images of bite marks, while Norton said he had been left fearing he may have contracted an illness."
Kaddour-Cherif was mistakenly released from prison despite facing three live criminal cases and an investigation into a fourth, contrary to a judge's order to remain in custody. While at Blackhorse Road Tube station on 20 July he attacked two police officers, punching and biting them during an altercation after an off‑duty officer intervened to recover a phone allegedly taken from a sleeping passenger. PC Jason Norton joined to assist, and officers suffered punch injuries and bite marks, with one officer fearing possible infection. Kaddour-Cherif pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and received a 26‑week jail sentence.
