Housing Secretary Ms. Rayner has given Chinese officials a fortnight to explain why certain parts of its floor plans have been omitted, including a proposed basement master plan.
The plans for the embassy building in East Smithfield are reported to cost 100 million and will cover 20,000 square meters, making it the biggest embassy in Europe.
Construction of the embassy was blocked by local councillors three years ago due to espionage fears and has been given the green light by the Planning Inspectorate.
