Katie Amess, daughter of murdered MP David Amess, expressed heartbreak over footage from a concert where a member of Kneecap appeared to incite violence against Tory MPs. She criticized the group's response, finding it lacking accountability and dismissive. Katie believes that had police acted on prior threats to her father, he might still be alive today. The Metropolitan Police are reviewing not only this footage but also another concerning video that surfaced recently. Kneecap has apologized to the Amess and Cox families but denied any intention to incite violence.
Kneecap denied inciting violence, calling the clip 'deliberately taken out of context', but did say: 'To the Amess and Cox families, we send our heartfelt apologies.'
Katie Amess said it is right that the Metropolitan Police are assessing the footage, adding that her father 'would still be here' if officers had 'followed through and looked into threats' against him.
Ms Amess said she was 'absolutely heartbroken' after seeing the clip because it 'brought back so much pain and upset', calling for the group to 'take full accountability'.
Ms Amess called on the group to apologise directly to those they had offended, stating that their statement suggested 'deflection and excuses and gaslighting'.
