When policies harm the British people and weaken our democracy, I cannot in good conscience support them. As Stevenage's youngest councillor, I entered politics to serve with integrity and respect. Today, I know I join a party that will put the British people and our great nation first."
"Labour is "without vision, mired in scandal, and too often speaking for a metropolitan elite.""
"I will not be distracted by political opportunism as I continue to focus on working day and night to secure positive changes for our town and villages as our local MP."
Mason R Humberstone, councillor for Old Town ward on Stevenage Borough Council, has defected from the Labour Party to Reform UK, becoming the first Labour councillor to join Nigel Farage's party. Humberstone described Labour as without vision, mired in scandal, and speaking for a metropolitan elite, and said he could not in good conscience support policies that harm the British people and weaken democracy. Humberstone said he joined Reform UK to put the British people and nation first. Stevenage MP Kevin Bonavia called for a by-election, said he was deeply disappointed, and criticized Reform as thriving on fear and division.
