Christopher Lindenberg, a 54-year-old resident of Lindenhurst, was charged with felony voter fraud after he attempted to submit a mail-in ballot under another person's name. His scheme was exposed when the real individual showed up on Election Day, prompting suspicion. Although the county Board of Elections initially accepted his fraudulent vote, the investigation revealed that Lindenberg had requested the ballot without the other person's knowledge. Following his arraignment on serious charges, he was released without bail and is expected back in court soon.
"Confidence in electoral systems is integral to a free society," Tierney said in a statement.
Lindenberg was slapped with felony voter fraud charges for allegedly submitting a mail-in ballot under another person's name before voting legally a second time.
