Trump Takes Victory Lap After Ken Paxton's Win Wildly Claims John Cornyn Will Remain My Friend' Even Though President Snubbed Him

Ken Paxton won the Texas Republican primary against four-term Senator John Cornyn by a wide margin. Donald Trump celebrated the result early Wednesday, calling Paxton a common sense choice and saying Cornyn would remain his friend. Trump credited Paxton’s rise to becoming a respected senator and framed the campaign as a contest over loyalty to the president versus ties to the Republican establishment. Trump attacked Paxton’s likely Democratic general-election rival, Texas State Rep.
