Alleged Minnesota shooter confessed to killings in letter to FBI director
Briefly

A Minnesota man, Vance Boelter, confessed to the fatal shootings of state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband in a handwritten letter. The letter was found in his getaway car and addressed to FBI Director Kash Patel. Boelter claimed he acted on secret orders from Governor Tim Walz, who allegedly wanted him to kill U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith. He is also charged with the attempted murders of state Senator John Hoffman and his family after a violent encounter at their home. Boelter stated his actions were coerced due to threats against his family.
"I am the shooter at large in Minnesota involved in the two shootings," Vance Boelter allegedly wrote in the letter, which was addressed to FBI Director Kash Patel and recovered June 15 inside a car found near his home and near where he was subsequently arrested.
The letter claims that Boelter didn't want to participate but did so after someone threatened his family and that he later killed people who were part of the alleged plot.
