Astros' Alvarez has significant sprain, out 'a while'

"One day at a time. I'm not going to give you days, weeks, what we're going to do next."
Yordan Alvarez suffered a significant left ankle sprain while crossing home plate and will be out of the lineup for a while. Alvarez underwent an MRI and remains on the active roster with no timetable for return. He slipped scoring from first base after a throwing error by Rangers pitcher Jack Leiter on Carlos Correa's infield single and exited with a crutch and boot. Alvarez is batting .273 with six home runs and 27 RBIs but has appeared in only 48 games after missing 101 games with a fractured right hand. Houston is narrowly positioned in the AL West and the wild-card race.
