Court doc: N.H. country club shooter said he chose location to target rich people
"Hunter Nadeau, 24, said he targeted the steakhouse at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua because he previously worked there as a server and 'knew that you had to have money to have a membership there,' according to a police affidavit. He also purportedly told police he avoided a wedding taking place on the club's grounds because he did not want to target 'civilians.'"
"The man accused of shooting up a New Hampshire country club last September, killing one person and wounding two more, allegedly told police he wanted to 'punish the wealthy,' according to a newly unsealed court document. Crime Hunter Nadeau allegedly told Nashua police he was 'tired of the elites taking all the money.'"
"Officers who responded to the scene caught up with Nadeau near the club's golf course. He was bleeding from apparently self-inflicted wounds on his arms and wrists and 'made statements to the effect that he was a bad guy,' according to the affidavit. While speaking with police at a hospital, Nadeau allegedly identified himself as the shooter and said he'd felt the urge to kill himself earlier that day."
Hunter Nadeau, 24, allegedly opened fire at Sky Meadow Country Club's steakhouse in Nashua on September 20, killing Robert DeCesare and wounding Steve Burtman. According to police documents, Nadeau told officers he targeted the club because he previously worked there and knew members had significant wealth. He expressed frustration about elites taking money and claimed he wanted to punish the wealthy. Nadeau avoided shooting at a nearby wedding, stating he did not want to target civilians. After patrons confronted him, he retreated to the golf course where police apprehended him. Officers found him with self-inflicted wounds on his arms and wrists. Nadeau admitted to being the shooter and indicated he had contemplated suicide earlier that day.
