Man missing for 6 weeks in the Sierra Nevada not found after search
"After hiking on Aug. 9, Bill Pierson parted ways with a friend and is believed to have traveled to the High Sierra in Inyo County, where he may have attempted to climb Temple Crag, according to the Inyo County Sheriff's Office. Pierson was reported missing on Sept. 10. He was not located after a search and rescue operation that lasted several days."
"Pierson's family believe he may have gone on to climb several other mountains in the Eastern Sierra, including North Palisades, Mt. Sill, Thunderbolt Peak or Mt. Agassiz. Pierson is 5-foot-9-inches and weighs 165 pounds. He was last seen with a navy blue or light gray 60-liter pack and black and yellow Scarpa Crux approach shoes. He often hikes with a baseball cap and a bandana underneath."
Bill Pierson, a Seattle resident, was last seen Aug. 9 after hiking and is believed to have traveled to the High Sierra in Inyo County, possibly attempting to climb Temple Crag. He was reported missing on Sept. 10 after a multi-day search and rescue operation failed to locate him. Family members think he may have climbed other Eastern Sierra peaks including North Palisades, Mt. Sill, Thunderbolt Peak, or Mt. Agassiz. Pierson is 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds.
