A 36-year-old Mark Anderson of Mankato, Minnesota, traveled to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn claiming to be an FBI agent and asserting he had a judge's order to release Luigi Mangione. Bureau of Prisons personnel asked for credentials and Anderson produced a Minnesota driver's license. Anderson told staff he had weapons in a bag; officers found a barbecue fork and a circular steel blade resembling a pizza cutter. Anderson displayed and threw numerous documents.
