Mirroring Gaza, Israel is destroying towns and villages in southern Lebanon
"The center of the village lies in ruins. A row of single-story shops blown out, goods scattered on the ground, glass shattered along the sidewalk. Homes and buildings are crumpled into themselves, unrecognizable."
"Israel has been very public about the controlled demolitions its military has been carrying out in many of the 55 Lebanese towns and villages it now occupies in the south."
"The demolitions are louder than airstrikes. We can hear them very clearly from here."
"Israel says it's destroying Hezbollah infrastructure. And that the goal is to create what Israel calls a 'buffer zone' along its border, in order to keep Hezbollah from attacking its northern residents."
Mansouri, a village in southern Lebanon, is in ruins with destroyed shops, homes, and a burned mosque. The area is near the Israeli-occupied 'yellow line.' Abed Ammar, an emergency responder, returned during a ceasefire and reported hearing controlled demolitions from neighboring villages. Israel claims these demolitions target Hezbollah infrastructure to establish a buffer zone. However, the demolitions and airstrikes have severely impacted civilian infrastructure, leading to widespread destruction in many Lebanese towns and villages.
