A group of relatives and friends of Venezuelans deported to El Salvador gathered to demand proof of life and health status of detainees in the mega-prison. Claiming to represent families of 238 imprisoned Venezuelans, they argue that many are undocumented migrants, not criminals. Led by former congressman Walter Marquez, they presented demands to the Salvadoran government while highlighting the lack of transparency regarding the detainees' legal situations and health, contrasting the accusations against them with findings from human rights investigations.

According to an investigation conducted by the Salvadoran NGO Cristosal, of the total number of Venezuelans held at the Terrorism Confinement Center (Cecot) in El Salvador, only 13% had a criminal record.
