The GoFundMe titled "Alex Pretti is an American Hero" has surpassed $1 million, with Ackman listed as a top donor. Ackman said he does not agree with labeling Pretti an American hero but called the loss tragic for the family. Ackman previously donated to a fundraiser for Jonathan Ross, an ICE officer involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Good, and said his support for Ross was to cover defense costs. Business leaders and Ackman have called for calm amid protests over immigration enforcement actions.
