Bill Ackman donates $10,000 to GoFundMe for Alex Pretti's family
"This family could use the $10,000 you donated to Renee Good's killer," Watts wrote on X. "Please donate."
"Done. That said, I don't agree with the gofundme that he is an American hero, but his loss is tragic for him and his family.- Bill Ackman (@BillAckman) January 26, 2026"
""I supported Ross because I knew he would need significant funds to cover his defense costs. I supported the gofundme for Good's family as I thought that it was the right thing to do," he wrote then."
Bill Ackman donated $10,000 to the family of Alex Pretti after being urged by activist Shannon Watts. Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old Minneapolis nurse, was fatally shot by a Border Patrol agent. The GoFundMe titled "Alex Pretti is an American Hero" has surpassed $1 million, with Ackman listed as a top donor. Ackman said he does not agree with labeling Pretti an American hero but called the loss tragic for the family. Ackman previously donated to a fundraiser for Jonathan Ross, an ICE officer involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Good, and said his support for Ross was to cover defense costs. Business leaders and Ackman have called for calm amid protests over immigration enforcement actions.
