Hundreds of Department of Homeland Security employees across offices including CISA, FEMA, TSA and the U.S. Coast Guard have been directed to transfer to agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Federal Protective Service and Customs and Border Protection. Affected staff received Management-Directed Reassignment notices that require acceptance within one week and relocation within 60 days, with limited deadline flexibility in some circumstances. The notices warn that nonresponse, declination, or failure to report for duty may result in removal from federal service. The reassignments have specifically targeted CISA's Cybersecurity Division, including Capacity Building and Stakeholder Engagement units. Sources spoke on condition of anonymity.
