Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot during an event at Utah Valley University and later died from his injuries. Grisly videos of the incident circulated widely as thoughts and prayers flooded social media. Former FBI Director Kash Patel issued a later-retracted statement claiming the shooter was in custody; the shooter remains at large. President Trump first posted prayers and condolences, then addressed the killing from the Oval Office, blaming the radical left and attributing political violence to demonizing rhetoric. Media and political figures criticized Trump’s reaction as disgusting and inflammatory.
